Warrant issued for Tampa man in attempted murder

TAMPA — An arrest warrant has been issued for Darnell Keyon Ammons, 21, wanted in the attempted murder last week of Dontavious Clark, 22.

Police already arrested Shamiria Hardrick, 22, on charges of attempted first-degree murder and child neglect in connection with the shooting Thursday outside 406 E Selma St.

Police say that when Ammons and Clark got into an argument about 3 p.m., Hardrick, who was pushing her two children in a stroller, handed Ammons a gun.

He fired several times, hitting Clark in the upper body, police say. Clark ran to a nearby house to call for help.

Hardrick was arrested that day. A police SWAT team believed Ammons was holed up inside a nearby residence that afternoon, but found no one inside when the team entered it.

Detectives were still searching for Ammons on Monday.

Clark remained in critical condition Monday.

Police asked that anyone with information call them at (813) 231-6130 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
