Watch out for the 'juror scam'

Be on the lookout for the "juror scam."

A Largo woman recently got a call from someone telling her she needed to pay a fine for missing jury service. The caller wanted her credit card information. Instead, she called the courthouse to confirm, and learned it was a scam, said Pinellas-Pasco courts spokesman Ron Stuart. Similar scams have been reported around the state.

Pinellas Clerk Ken Burke said officials would never demand credit card information from prospective jurors. If people have questions about jury service in Pinellas County, they can call (727) 464-6423.
