HILLSBOROUGH — A water advisory at five beaches where high levels of bacteria were detected last week has been lifted.
Last week, the advisory was issued at Ben T. Davis Beach, Cypress Point Park, Picnic Island Park, Bahia Beach and Simmons Park.
Health officials lifted the advisory Wednesday.
Officials test the water for enteric bacteria, which indicates fecal pollution. If there are high levels in the water, it can cause "human disease, infections, or rashes," the department said.
Nine Hillsborough sites have been tested weekly since August 2002.
