TAMPA — A woman driving under the influence was arrested Saturday after running into the back of a marked state trooper's car with its lights and siren operating, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened about 8:25 p.m. on East Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, west of Interstate 4, as the trooper slowed to make a U-turn and assist another trooper, the Highway Patrol said.
Susan E. Ross, 41, of Jupiter, driving a 1997 Ford Mustang, was headed west when the collision occurred. Ross was not injured. She was booked into the Hillsborough County jail on charges of DUI property damage, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She declined to submit to a breath test and was released early Sunday morning, the Highway Patrol said.
The trooper, Jessica Manganaro, 28, of Tampa, driving a 2008 Dodge Charger, was treated at Tampa General Hospital for minor injuries.
