Woman found floating in Lake Maggiore was murdered, St. Petersburg police say

ST. PETERSBURG — A dead woman pulled from Lake Maggiore on Christmas Day was murdered, police said Tuesday.

Detectives identified her as Stacia Berman, 42, a transient.

She died from blunt force trauma to the upper body, according to the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner's Office.

Officers found her body floating in the water just after 3:30 p.m. Sunday near the 2800 block of 13th Street S. A witness had seen the body and called 911.
