Woman wins storage shed at auction, finds child porn

NEW PORT RICHEY — On May 15, a woman won an abandoned unit at in an auction. She went to North Trinity Self Storage later that month to claim her prize.

While cleaning out the unit, she found documents with the name of John Andrew Parcha, the previous renter. Then she found photographs "of children in inappropriate situations," according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report. She threw them away.

There was a stack of CDs in the unit, too. Most were music CDs, but one that the woman put in her computer came up with folders labeled "female rape," "male rape" and "baby rape." She called the Sheriff's Office.

During the investigation of the discs, the report states, detectives found 240 pictures and videos "ranging from infants to pre-teens, most of them involved in sexual acts."

Detectives traced the unit back to Parcha.

Det. William Lindsey described the images as gut wrenching.

"It was actually the worst stuff I've come across. And I specialize in these kinds of cases," he said. "That's a new level of mental sickness."

Deputies arrested Parcha on Sunday. Parcha, 49, of 5431 Palm Drive, told deputies he downloaded the images from the Internet. He had been arrested before in Pasco County on violation of probation charges of petty theft and using worthless checks.

In the interview, Lindsey said, Parcha told him that he'd owned the videos for more than a decade. He said he kept them on discs as a back up when he erased the videos from his computer's hard drive. And that he was molested himself as a child.

Parcha was arrested on five counts of possessing child pornography. Parcha remained in Land O'Lakes jail Tuesday in lieu of $25,000 bail.
