TAMPA — Police are searching for two men who they say shot a 17-year-old as he stood outside on N 26th Street on Wednesday afternoon.

About 5:30 p.m., the two men were walking a white pit bull puppy when they approached the teenager in front of 201 N 26th St. and shot him twice in the chest, a Tampa police news release said.

Tampa Fire Rescue took the teen to Tampa General Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition as he underwent surgery. He told police he did not know his attackers, and said they fled east on foot.

If you have any information about this crime, call the Tampa Police Department at (813) 231-6130 or Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-873-8477.
