Zephyrhills felon accused of molesting 7-year-old girl

ZEPHYRHILLS — A 34-year-old man is accused of sexually molesting a 7-year-old child. Angel Freytiz was arrested Thursday on a warrant on charges of sexual battery and lewd and lascivious molestation.

The alleged abuse happened in 2009 in Zephyrhills. The girl told an adult, who confronted Freytiz, a report states. "I don't want to go back to prison," Freytiz said, according to a Zephyrhills Police Department report, and fled, avoiding arrest for nearly two years. He previously served nine months in prison for felony battery, according to the Florida Department of Corrections. That crime happened in 2006 when he was 28 years old. Authorities said he raped an 18-year-old woman.

On the lam from the Zephyrhills accusations, Freytiz ended up in Pennsylvania, as he was convicted there on drug charges in 2011 and is serving a minimum-three-year sentence at a prison in Cresson, Penn. He was picked up at the prison by Pasco authorities and extradited here to face the warrant charges.

Freytiz is being held without bail at the Pasco jail.
