Zephyrhills man arrested for alleged abuse a decade ago

ZEPHYRHILLS – The man came forward with a story he'd held for a decade. He told deputies that William Carl Peterson II had sexually assaulted him and photographed him naked when he was a boy.

The abuse lasted from 2000 to 2002, authorities said. The man told deputies he was 7 or 8 years old at the time while Peterson was 17 or 18, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report. The report states that, at the time, Peterson told the boy not to tell anyone.

Confronted by deputies, Peterson admitted to the accusations, the report said.

Peterson, 30, of Zephyrhills, was arrested Wednesday and taken to Land O'Lakes jail on two charges of sexual battery. He remained there Thursday in lieu of $30,000 bail.

His arrest report indicates he worked at Florida Hospital Tampa, although the hospital was unable Thursday to provide details on his position.
