Deputies investigate body found in Port Richey

PORT RICHEY — Pasco deputies are investigating the death of a man whose partially burned body was found behind the Hollywood 18 movie theater.

A person walking through the woods about 8 a.m. Tuesday discovered the body of the man, whose identity has not been released. The body was in some shrubs behind the overflow parking lot of the theater at Cinema and Scenic drives, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said. An abandoned car, a gray Toyota Camry, was parked nearby.

Authorities have not said how the man died or what part of the body was burned, but have labeled the death as suspicious.

"We're trying to figure out exactly what happened to this individual," sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin said.
