Deputies to conduct Clearwater sobriety checkpoint on U.S. 19 N

CLEARWATER — Deputies will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Friday night off U.S. 19.

The checkpoint starts at 10 p.m. and runs through 3 a.m. Saturday at 26996 U.S. 19 N, a K-Mart parking lot. Pinellas deputies will be looking for alcohol- and drug-impaired drivers. Authorities will also check driver's licenses, vehicle registrations and equipment violations.

The Sheriff's Office conducts sobriety checkpoints once a month throughout the county.

    ST. PETERSBURG — The local community college had already made a name for itself when William Law Jr. first arrived on campus in the early 1980s as a vice president.
