Diver rescued off coast of Tarpon Springs

TARPON SPRINGS — Coast Guard crews rescued a diver 15 miles off the coast of Tarpon Springs on Wednesday morning.

The 54-year-old man was diving off a charter boat called Narcosis. A press release from the Coast Guard states that he injured himself while diving, though it was unclear what happened. He was unconscious and not responding to CPR. The Coast Guard is not releasing the man's name.

The call came in just before 10:30 a.m. and members of Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg boarded a helicopter to airlift the man from the boat. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital in stable condition, Coast Guard officials said.
