Evacuation over after false bomb threat phone in to St. Petersburg Walmart

ST. PETERSBURG — The evacuation of the new Walmart Supercenter near Historic Kenwood ended after about 90 minutes on Thursday afternoon, according to police.

A male called the store at 201 34th St. at about 2:28 p.m. and said there was a bomb in the building. St. Petersburg police were called in and store management had the building evacuated.

It was the second unfounded threat phoned in to the store since it opened in July, according to police spokesman Mike Puetz. The first threat was made on Aug. 29.
