Evicted woman burns mobile home, Tampa police say

TAMPA — A woman who had just been evicted set her couch ablaze and burned a mobile home Thursday, authorities said.

Michelle Metz, 38, was arrested in connection with the fire, Tampa police said.

At 2:26 p.m., Tampa Fire Rescue arrived at Lot 40 of the Sandpiper Mobile Home Park at 5500 N Rome Ave. Smoke was pouring from the home, but the fire was under control in 10 minutes.

The blaze caused $7,000 in damage to the older-model mobile home, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.
