All lanes of Kingsway Road were closed Thursday morning in Brandon as public works crews worked to cut up a fallen tree and remove it, authorities said.

BRANDON — Traffic is flowing again on Kingsway Road after a large oak tree fell in the road and took down some utility lines.

The road had been blocked for a few hours, and parents of students at nearby Yates Elementary School had been advised to drop off their students on Ridgewood Avenue.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said about 9:30 a.m. that county crews had removed the tree and that Verizon had repaired the downed lines.
