Detectives looking into cause of blaze
Arson detectives were investigating a fire that destroyed a Palm Harbor home just after midnight Tuesday, deputies said. A family of three was awakened by the fire at 1436 Pennsylvania Ave. but was able to escape unharmed, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said. The Palm Harbor Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze. The origin of the flames was linked to several bags of old clothes that were leaning against a wooden garage door. The cause of the fire was still undetermined Wednesday morning, deputies said. The fire destroyed the garage and part of the house. Damage was estimated at more than $100,000.
