Arson suspected in fire at vacant east Tampa home

TAMPA — Arson was the suspected cause of a fire that destroyed an abandoned home late Sunday in east Tampa.

The fire was reported just before 11 p.m. Sunday at 3003 N 48th St. Firefighters arrived to find the single-story home engulfed in flames.

It took about a half hour for firefighters to extinguish the blaze. A Fire Marshal's investigation found that the home had no one living in it and no electricity, according to Tampa Fire Rescue officials. No one was injured.
