Arson suspected in garage fire near Tampa

TAMPA — A fire that damaged the inside of a garage Wednesday morning has been ruled an arson, according to fire officials.

The blaze was reported just after 9:30 a.m. at 5409 Temple Palms Ave., authorities said. Arriving firefighters gained access to the property through the 5300 block of Martin Lane, which was closer to the garage. When they arrived at the site near N 56th Street and E Sligh Avenue, they found the garage engulfed in flames.

The fire was quickly put out. A car parked inside was damaged, but no one was injured.

An investigation found that the fire was set intentionally, officials said. Witnesses told investigators that three teenage boys were seen leaving the garage before the fire started. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the fire can call Hillsborough County Fire Rescue at (813) 744-5541.
