ST. PETE BEACH — A fire late Wednesday left one man dead and a house destroyed.
Firefighters were called at about 11:40 p.m. to 2211 E Vina del Mar Blvd., said St. Pete Beach Fire Chief Fred Golliner, where a man and woman lived. The man who died was inside when rescuers arrived and flames were leaping through the roof.
It took about three hours to put the fire out.
This morning, many gawked at the damage as they drove by the home. A large hole had been cut in the garage door and debris and household items were strewn in the back yard.
An investigation is under way. No other details are available.
