Authorities investigating arson at St. Petersburg home

ST. PETERSBURG — Someone intentionally set a fire that caused more than $60,000 in damage to a home Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to 2664 Fairway Ave. S shortly before noon.

The single story, wood frame house had smoke and fire coming from its front, said Lt. Joel Granata of St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue.

The fire spread quickly through the home, Granata said. No one was inside and there were no injuries.

Authorities later determined the fire was arson.

Anyone with information is asked to call arson detectives at (727) 892-5212.

The Red Cross is assisting the people who lived there.
