Bathrooms at Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach gutted by suspicious overnight fire

CLEARWATER — The State Fire Marshal's Office on Wednesday was investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed the bathrooms near Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach, authorities said.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue firefighters were called to the blaze around 3:45 a.m. and found six bathrooms north of the bandshell engulfed in flames.

It took firefighters 15 minutes to put out the fire.

No one was injured.

The bathrooms were scheduled to be demolished in February after the new ones, which are currently under construction, are open.
