TAMPA — No injuries were reported in an early Wednesday blaze that ripped through a home and left it a total loss, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.

Fire crews responded to 1618 E Kirby St. at about 6:15 a.m. Heavy smoke and flames was pouring out of the home.

At least one person lives in the home, but it was not immediately clear if anyone was home.

Neighbor Melody Derk, 39, said she got a call from a friend about 6:15 a.m. They were worried it was her house on fire.

She went outside and saw flames jumping three or four feet high out of the roof.

She said it took hours to completely put out and that the house was destroyed.

"There's no saving it," she said.
