Brush fire in Lithia's Alafia River State Park under control

LITHIA — A Sunday night brush fire in Alafia River State Park was under control by about 2:30 a.m. Monday.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the fire burned about 500 acres of eastern Hillsborough County, but there was no damage to nearby structures. No one was injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that driving visibility is no longer an issue on surrounding roads.
