A brush fire in South Florida closed parts of Interstate 75 and Alligator Alley Monday morning, and dry conditions are sparking dozens of fires across the state.
A dry winter has had fire officials on watch for weeks for brush fires.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported two brush fires in Hillsborough County, two in Hernando County and four in Polk County on Monday morning.
None of those fires were causing smoky conditions on roads or forcing any closures, according to the patrol.
The fire near Alligator Alley closed two stretches of the road and covered 20,000 acres as of Sunday, the Naples Daily News reported.
