Cat injured in north Hillsborough mobile home fire

TAMPA — Firefighters put out a blaze at a north Hillsborough mobile home Monday morning.

The resident of the mobile home, at 12420 Florida Ave., was not home when the fire started at about 10 a.m., according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, but a cat was injured in the fire.

When firefighters arrived at the Michigan Mobile Home Park, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the home. They were able to contain the fire and extinguish it.

The cat was taken to a veterinarian. The American Red Cross is working to find housing for the resident.

Authorities are investigating the cause.
