TAMPA — A fire started by a child playing with a lighter heavily damaged a home Friday night, authorities said.
Tampa Fire Rescue got the call about 6:53 p.m. for a fire at 1925 E Crenshaw St. Three small children and a woman had been in the home, fire rescue said, and one of the children had started the fire while the woman was showering. Firefighters got the blaze under control in about 20 minutes. One other woman lives there but was not home when the fire happened.
The American Red Cross is working with the residents to find them housing, fire rescue said. No one was injured in the fire.
