CLEARWATER — A fire at an apartment building displaced 20 people Saturday night and officials said severe weather may be to blame.
The fire began just after 8 p.m. on the third floor of Cameron Lakes Apartments at 2550 Stag Run Blvd., officials said. Firefighters arrived at 8:16 p.m. and battled the blaze for more than 40 minutes.
The fire caused extensive damage in two apartments, officials said. Water and smoke damaged six others. No one was injured. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist those who were displaced.
Fire officials suspect that a thunderstorm moving through the area at the time might have started the fire. The exact cause was still under investigation.
