Clearwater's Bait House Restaurant burns in Monday night blaze

CLEARWATER

Restaurant fire still under investigation

Firefighters were investigating the cause of a blaze that partially damaged the Bait House Restaurant on Clearwater Beach on Monday night.

A fisherman noticed smoke coming from the building at 51 Causeway Blvd. just after it closed at 10 p.m. Monday, a fire rescue spokesman said. When firefighters arrived, they found the building on fire.

Gusty winds fanned the flames and for a time endangered the 115-foot StarLite Majesty dining yacht, which was anchored nearby. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

The blaze appeared to have started in the kitchen, the only portion of the restaurant damaged.
