TAMPA — Fire raged through an abandoned East Tampa home Thursday night before crews were able to bring it under control, authorities said.

The home at 2916 E Lindell Ave. was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived, Tampa Fire Rescue said. Crews sprayed water on it from the outside, at one point having to retreat to defensive positions due to the intensity.

There were no injuries or damage to other homes, officials said. Fire Rescue received a call about the fire around 8:45 p.m. The fire was out by 9:30 p.m., officials said.
