Crews evacuate South Tampa businesses after gas leak

TAMPA — Crews have evacuated businesses in the 3200 block of S MacDill Avenue while a natural gas leak is stopped.

The Fire Rescue Department received a report about 2:45 p.m. of a gas leak at 3217 S MacDill Ave., which is southeast of the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway overpass.

The business where the leak occurred was unoccupied, Fire Rescue said, and there were no injuries reported.

Peoples Gas was on the scene to repair the leak, and Fire Rescue teams were monitoring the air quality.
