LEALMAN — Five people escaped a fire in a home on 57th Avenue N early Friday morning, authorities said.

A neighbor spotted "sparking and glowing" on one side of the home about 4 a.m. and knocked on the door of 3715 57th Ave. N, prompting the residents to wake up and flee, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. Two dogs and two cats also made it out safely.

The Sheriff's Office said the fire appears to have started on a porch, and arson detectives are investigating.
