PALM HARBOR — The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help as detectives try to determine what caused a fire that destroyed the four-story observation tower in Wall Springs Park on Wednesday. Firefighters responding to a call of a brush fire at 7:39 a.m. found the $315,000 tower engulfed in flames. The tower is in an isolated area of the county park, which is off Alt. U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor.
Detectives assigned to the sheriff's Arson and Auto Theft Unit have determined the fire was suspicious and are asking anyone with information to call Detective Larry McLean at (727) 582-6200.
