Diesel fuel leak cleanup under way at St. Joseph's Hospital

TAMPA — More than 1,100 gallons of diesel fuel seeped into the street and into a storm drain near St. Joseph's Hospital early Tuesday.

The leak, reported around 7:20 a.m. in the area of 3001 W Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., is being monitored and cleared by Tampa Fire Rescue and Hillsborough County's Hazardous Material Crews.

Initial readings indicated the leak was confined to the immediate area, officials said.

St. Joseph's Hospital was working with local authorities to ensure the safety of staff and patients, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
