Firefighters rescued a dog from a fire Tuesday that damaged the inside of a Riverview home.
The fire broke out shortly before noon at 11411 Tucker Road, near the intersection with Third Street, fire officials said. Multiple people dialed 911 saying the home had flames coming from a window.
Firefighters arrived and found heavy flames and smoke coming from one of the rooms, authorities said. Crews found a dog inside and brought it to safety. The dog was not harmed. No one was inside the home when the fire started.
Firefighters quickly doused the flames and brought the fire under control. Smoke damaged portions of the other rooms.
The American Red Cross was helping the family of seven find temporary shelter. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
