Electrical fire damages east Tampa home

TAMPA — An electrical fire seriously damaged an east Tampa home Thursday morning.

Tampa Fire Rescue said a 47-year-old woman was home when the accidental blaze began in the attic of 4215 E Okara Road at about 10 a.m. She was able to get out unharmed.

Flames shot through the roof of the house and caused $35,000 worth of damage. The American Red Cross helped a family of three — including an 8-year-old boy — to find temporary housing.
