An overnight fire at Duke Energy's Weedon Island facility left three transformers disabled.
The fire was reported just after midnight Monday and began in one of the plant's transformers, according to Bay News 9. Two other transformers were shut down for safety, and a smaller fire began in a wind turbine when embers from the first fire were sucked inside.
No injuries were reported and no outages were caused by the blaze, Bay News 9 reported. Crews from St. Petersburg Fire Rescue remained on scene about 7 a.m. Monday.
