Fire breaks out at St. Pete Beach condo

ST. PETE BEACH — A fire forced residents of a condominium complex to evacuate early Tuesday.

The fire happened inside Apartment 1 of Captain's Quarters at 510 70th Ave. about 1 a.m. One man was hospitalized for possible smoke inhalation, Bay News 9 reported.

Employees and police went door to door waking up residents and helping them evacuate. The unit where the fire started was damaged by smoke and flames but not destroyed, according to Bay News 9.

The cause remains under investigation. No further details were immediately available.
