ST. PETERSBURG — A fire destroyed an abandoned boat Friday evening that had been drifting for months near the mangroves off the Gandy bridge, authorities said.

The fire was reported just after 8:30 p.m. between the mangroves and the bridge, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue officials said. The 22-foot boat was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived and had burned to the waterline by the time the blaze was extinguished.

No one was injured in the fire.
