Fire destroys vacant house in Tampa

TAMPA — A vacant house at 942 E 11th Ave. was badly damaged after a suspicious fire Saturday afternoon, sending a column of dark smoke over nearby Ybor City. Tampa Fire Marshal Milton Jenkins said the same building had been set ablaze four days previously, and investigators are trying to determine if the same person was responsible for the second blaze. Jenkins said the fire appeared to have been set at the outside of the house. For a time, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn was at the scene and tweeted several pictures.
