Authorities say a fire at a vacant house near Interstate 275 started near the air handler in the attic.

The exact cause was not determined Thursday, but is not considered intentional, Lealman Fire District Capt. Larry Thompson said. No one was injured.

Firefighters from Lealman and St. Petersburg responded to the fire at 6201 25th St. N (map below) around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. Smoke and flames were coming from the roof, which later collapsed, officials said.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 25 minutes. An investigation continues.
