EAST LAKE — Two brush fires sparked at the Brooker Creek Preserve near the Hawks Landing subdivision Tuesday, fire rescue said.
Firefighters responded to the first fire, roughly an acre in size, about 7 a.m. and brought the flames under control. Just before 3 p.m. a few hundred yards away, another brush fire sparked, East Lake Fire Rescue said.
The second fire measures about 10 acres, officials said.
Several agencies, including the Palm Harbor, Largo, Safety Harbor, and Oldsmar fire departments, as well as a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office helicopter, responded to the scene.
No one was hurt and no property damage was reported at the fires, which may have been caused by lightning strikes reported Monday night in that area, fire rescue.
