Firefighters contain Palm River brush fire

TAMPA — Firefighters were battling a small brush fire Sunday afternoon in a wooded field near the 5400 block of S 20th Avenue in the Palm River area.

Three brush fire trucks and four fire engines responded about 5 p.m. to battle the blaze, said Hillsborough Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Steve McDonald.

Smoke from the fire could be seen in the sky for several miles.

The fire was not threatening any homes or businesses, McDonald said.
