Firefighters evacuate Tampa apartments when one catches fire

TAMPA — A fire in an empty apartment Tuesday afternoon caused fire crews to evacuate two other nearby units, officials said.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded about 2:30 p.m. to 5671 Del Prado Drive inside the River View Apartments on 56th Street, just north of Sligh Avenue, officials said. A first-floor apartment was in flames when fire crews arrived.

That apartment was vacant, but two others were evacuated. No one was hurt.

It took firefighters half an hour to extinguish the blaze. It was not immediately clear what sparked the fire. An investigation was underway.

Country music has a dude problem.

I’m not talking about the proliferation of mindless bro country over the past half-decade, nor am I referring to the fact that most of Nashville’s best music these days comes not from said bros, from female singers and songwriters.
