TAMPA — Firefighters responded to a fire at a house just west of the University of South Florida about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived at 1702 E 127th Ave., flames were jumping out the back of the house. No one was inside, and the fire was extinguished quickly, said Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokesman Ray Yeakley.

He said the house appears to be vacant. The cause of the fire is unknown, and Fire Rescue is investigating, Yeakley said.

A damage estimate was not available.
