RIVERVIEW — Firefighters rescued a person who was trapped Monday morning inside a burning Riverview home.

The fire broke out about 9 a.m. in the kitchen of the home at 13218 Early Run Lane, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue officials said. When fire crews arrived, they surrounded the home and spotted a hand on one of the windows. They broke the window and pulled the trapped resident to safety.

Crews contained the fire to the kitchen and quickly put it out, officials said. A family dog was found unharmed inside the home.

The resident, whose name was not given, was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but not hospitalized, officials said. The fire was determined to have started as a result of grease in a pan that was left unattended on the kitchen stove.
