The sun rises over the scene of a house fire Thursday morning on Tarawood Lane in Valrico.

VALRICO — Flames engulfed a house at 1204 VistaView Lane early Thursday, prompting fire officials to declare the single-family home a total loss.

Plumes of smoke rose from the home, near Tarawood Lane, just after 6 a.m. as flames shot through the roof and firefighters worked to put out the blaze.

Although the only adult resident of the home was inside when the fire began, fire officials said no one was injured in the fire.

It took 18 firefighters about 45 minutes to get the flames under control, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

It was not immediately clear what caused the fire. The investigation is continuing.
