Flames cause $30,000 of damage to St. Petersburg home

ST. PETERSBURG — No one was injured in a blaze that ripped through a single-story home Wednesday morning and caused roughly $30,000 in damage, according to St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue.

Fire crews responded to the fire at 250 19th Ave. S about 10:12 a.m. Smoke and fire were coming out of the front windows.

The living room was engulfed in flames, which were difficult to combat because of the "enormous amount of stuff that the firefighters had to navigate around," fire officials said.

Fire investigators suspect the cause of the fire was electrical, Lt. Joel Granata said.

The homeowner was at a friend's house in Pinellas Park at the time of the fire.

The investigation is ongoing.
