TAMPA — An electrical malfunction between a dropped ceiling and roof above the kitchen is the cause of a three-alarm fire at Big and Deals Supercenter at N 40th Street and E Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa on Monday night.

Fire investigators say the fire caused extensive smoke and fire damage and resulted in a partial roof collapse.

The cost estimate was not available, investigators said.

Firefighters were called to the store at 9:15 p.m. and additional crews were called after heavy smoke was reported, officials said.

No injuries were reported, Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Penny said.

Traffic was interrupted along E Hillsborough Avenue and N 40th Street until around 9 a.m.
