Lightning causes brush fire in Riverview

RIVERVIEW — Lightning caused a brush fire Saturday afternoon that was burning about 1 acre, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.

Crews responded to the fire near Panther Trace Boulevard and Denmore Crest Place around 3:40 p.m. Saturday. It was under control by 4 p.m., and crews were working to keep it from spreading, Fire Rescue said. Homes in the area were not in danger, officials said.

A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit was called in to extinguish the fire, Fire Rescue said.
