Man in critical condition after fire at RV park

TAMPA — A man was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition after the RV he was in at Bay Bayou RV Resort caught fire Saturday, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.

The fire happened around 5:30 p.m. at 8443 Manatee Bay Drive in the RV park. Neighbors helped Elfton Mace, 54, out of the burning camper, said fire rescue spokesman Ronnie Rivera. It took the fire rescue crew about 10 minutes to put out the blaze, Rivera said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Saturday.
